The primary Islamic dua for success in business is the market supplication narrated in Tirmidhi 3428: La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu wa huwa hayyun la yamut, biyadihil khayr wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir — There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner; to Him belongs the kingdom and all praise, He gives life and causes death, He is the Ever-Living who does not die, in His hand is all good, and He has power over all things. This supplication, recited upon entering any marketplace or business environment, earns the reward of a thousand good deeds and erases a thousand sins, according to the hadith.

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ، بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul ḥamdu, yuḥyī wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyun lā yamūtu, biyadihil khayru wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr

"There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs all dominion and all praise. He gives life and causes death. He is the Ever-Living who does not die. In His hand is all good, and He has power over all things." — (Tirmidhi 3428, Ibn Majah 2235)

This is not merely a recitation — it is a reorientation. Before you open the browser, unlock the shop, or start the first meeting, you are reminding yourself of who actually owns the outcome. That posture of dependence is itself a form of success.

Duas for Barakah in Your Work and Transactions

Beyond the market dua, the Prophet ﷺ taught several supplications that draw barakah directly into daily work.

Before beginning any task: Say Bismillah — In the name of Allah. This single word invites divine presence into the act.

For ease in a difficult task: The dua of Musa ﷺ, preserved in Surah Ta-Ha, is recited by Muslims whenever they face a difficult undertaking:

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي

Rabbi'shraḥ lī ṣadrī wa yassir lī amrī

"My Lord, expand my chest [with confidence] and make my affair easy for me." — (Surah Ta-Ha 20:25-26)

For beneficial knowledge and pure provision: This supplication, reported in Ibn Majah (925), is ideal to recite before beginning the workday:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka ʿilman nāfiʿan wa rizqan ṭayyiban wa ʿamalan mutaqabbalan

"O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure sustenance, and accepted deeds." — (Ibn Majah 925)

The combination of these three — knowledge, pure rizq, and accepted deeds — maps directly onto what every businessperson needs: discernment to make good decisions, income that is free of haram, and work that counts for something beyond the bank account.

فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَانتَشِرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَابْتَغُوا مِن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ

"When the prayer is concluded, spread out in the land and seek Allah's bounty." — (Surah Al-Jumu'ah 62:10)

The scholars note that min fadl Allah — from Allah's bounty — frames all work as gift-seeking from a generous Giver, not self-generated gain. A Muslim who returns to their business after Jumu'ah carries this frame with them. Their work is not an escape from worship — it is a continuation of it.

How to Build These Duas Into Your Working Day

The key is anchoring each dua to an existing action, so it becomes automatic rather than aspirational.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "The deeds most beloved to Allah are those done consistently, even if small." (Sahih al-Bukhari 6464).
